We walked down to the Medomak River behind our house.
Hope's Aunt Liv got scared by a spider and squealed like a little girl
AIR: Each person launched their raft with a burning bundle of sage, rosemary, and hemp incense. Afterwards, I read the story of why we gave Hope her name.
FIRE: We walked back to our house to start a fire inside a hole, in which we burned things from nature that each person brought from their homes- winterberry, sage from Idaho, grass from the Field, pine cones, and so on. Then we each wrote notes to Hope and tossed them into the flames. Some people spoke or shared readings.
EARTH: We smothered the fire and planted a serviceberry, which will some day provide fruit to our family and birds, in effect sending our love for Hope far beyond this ceremony.

Ava, thank you so much for sharing, for being so present, loving, and open.
We miss you and love you, Hope. Wherever you are, I pray you have peace and feel all our love sent your way. Keep Ari company--and Day, too. And send a healthy baby for your mama and dada when they are ready.
I want to thank you for your blog. In April just after you had Hope, I delivered Hutch a little boy stillborn one week before his due date. Michelle and Kathy, were my midwifes. Michelle kept me strong by telling me your story of Arianna. I had no idea you had just gone through the same process again days before. You and Brian are amazing! I know you are stronger than I. You have blessed my life so much with your strength already. Now I stand in complete awe! I will return often to your blog as respite to my soul. This Saturday, September 26, at Freeman park 9:30am. in Idaho Falls there is a honor walk for babies lost. Idaho Angel Babies was started by a friend of mine who has also gone through this trial. If you can not make, may I have your permission to write your girls names on balloons we will be releasing to honor the babies. I will have Michelle and Kathy release them. I really appreciate you!
